Baby, it's cold outside

Today, we're profiling cold weather accessories that will get you through winter in style. The best ones transform what can be plain outerwear into something exciting.

These faux fur pieces from J. Crew are amazing (although not necessarily together). Put the hat on with a neutral coat, especially an everyday down, for a fun and casual look. The stole goes the opposite way and will dress up your wool coat, a great sweater or a denim jacket. We'd suggest that you get a hook and eye put on the stole midway along the length so you can wear it open or closed.

These three coordinating cashmere pieces (hat, gloves, scarf) from Cos are a great value. There's something very sophisticated about the matching set. When worn together, they feel elegant and composed, especially with a tonal coat. The hat has a snug shape, fitted to the head without a lot of extra fabric on the back. Each piece comes in a variety of colors.

If you want a beanie with a little more fabric in the back, try this one from Jenni Kayne (it also comes in grey). It's a slouchier look and a great price.

The twisted headband is a bit of a trend and this one from J. Crew is a fun way to incorporate it during the cold weather. There is a matching beanie and scarf as well.

Here's another slouchy beanie hat - a wool blend from Missoni. If you don't want to be another person with a plain hat, this is a great choice.

These fun wool blend long gloves from GANNI are a great way to spice up a wool coat. Wear them bunched up around the wrist.

These fingerless gloves by Hat Attack are great to wear on days when it's not so cold and you need your fingers free. We love a stripe.

These gorgeous Loro Piana cashmere wrist warmers are a worthy splurge, something you'll buy now and wear forever. Wear them as a sleeve coming out of a wrap or over your gloves for extra warmth. Or, bunch them down and wear them over a lightweight down coat.

Jen is a fan of a wrap, especially over a coat. The cashmere one from J. Crew can be worn over your standard wool or down coat as an extra layer when you're outside on a long Saturday afternoon [25% off right now with the code on their site]. The grey one from Rag & Bone is a little more fun and would look great over a denim jacket, heavy cashmere turtleneck sweater or lightweight wool coat.

This Harris Wharf wool kimono is great on its own for the days when it's not frigid (wear it with the Loro Piana wrist warmers above), or would be beautiful layered with a lightweight leather, denim or down coat underneath. It's an elegant game changer that can also be worn over a cocktail dress.

If you love a leather glove, this is a great inexpensive option from Cos, lined in cashmere with a fun elastic detail at the wrist.

This is a substantial felt hat from Lola Hats. It's oversized and wintery and a super fun way to top off your cold weather look. It's a stylish alternative to your everyday wool or cashmere hat.
