Black dresses for summer

Last week's blog post was all about the pink trend - which we love - but, let's face it, nothing is more flattering than black, no matter what the season. The elegance and ease (no one wonders what color shoe to wear!) can't be beat. The black dresses we're profiling today are all in lighter weight fabrics that will keep you cool, even in the heat of summer.

This dress by Ganni is simple, elegant, perfection. You can wear it dressed up with a heeled sandal and a necklace that sits perfectly in the V neck, OR put it with a flat sandal and some long necklaces to go out for lunch. We like it with gold jewelry.

Staud's black dress is a closet workhorse. The best part is that the pintuck design defines your waistline for you - universally flattering. It's a great office/day dress. And the elbow length sleeve is a chic detail. Don't be afraid to hem this beauty!

This feminine Co dress is great for people who have a smaller waist and who can wear a belt. You know who you are! Co's fabrics are always luxe and substantial and this piece is no different.

This Norma Kamali drop shoulder dress is an absolute steal at $89. It's sexy without being too much, stretchy and easy to wear. Wear it casually with a gladiator sandal in gold or a fun color. Or, dress it up with a heel.

G. Label's Emmity dress is a summer dream and it's selling out fast (they often restock, so get on the waitlist for your size). It's super flattering because you can cinch the waist in or out and zip it up or down depending on your preference. The fabric is super light weight. Wear it with a sandal or Birkenstock.

Frankie Shop makes this very specific, 80s mini-T-shirt dress. You have to be excited to own this look. It's a take on what Dries van Noten was showing last season, but at an affordable price. Wear it uber-casually as day dress with sneakers and a straw fedora.

Love this feminine, casual Vix dress. It's reminiscent of Isabel Marant but less expensive. Wear it with a flat sandal/gladiator or even as a cover up over your bathing suit.
