A good dress makes getting dressed easy and who couldn't use a little ease these days? The dresses we're profiling below are good to wear now, or later with a little coat over top. They also showcase the quality that is available at a broad range of price points.
Sacai is a Japanese brand with a very specific aesthetic. Asymmetric hems, layers, different textures and interesting details are at the heart of the look. This blue dress is a great example of all of these elements and in a brilliant color blue. This would be amazing with a black blazer and a little open toe shoe boot. Pieces by Sacai tend to be pricey, but you can also find them on TheRealReal if you're looking for a bargain.
Here we have a perfect, elegant, black dress. Made by Co, this dress has a gorgeous, slightly ballooned sleeve, and a self-fabric belt. It's hard to see in the photo, but it also has a beautiful pleat detail in the front. This would be figure flattering if you have a more narrow waist. Wear it with a heel to dress it up or a little shoe boot to dress it down.
This classic silk Equipment dress is an easy, wearable piece that's perfect for fall. We love the sleeve length. Wear it with a shoe boot and jewel-length necklace and throw a cropped black jacket or blazer on top. A jean jacket is tempting, but avoid it with the animal print.
Frame makes this cute dress in a flattering gray-green. It nods toward the military look without overdoing it. While it's more of a summer piece, you can get a few wears out of it this September with a shoe boot and a jean jacket and then wear the heck out of it next year.
Loulou Studio is a brand Jen just discovered. They have some great pieces at a nice price point. This blush/stone colored dress would be super cute with a shoe boot and a jean jacket. Also, note the low waist band - this detail is flattering to a wide range of body types. And it has pockets!! There's literally nothing that Jen likes more than a dress with pockets.
Cos makes this cute three-season dress of recycled material. Wear it on its own all summer and with a blazer on top in the fall/spring. This is a great example of how Cos creates affordable pieces that look like they could be high-end.
Here's another chic dress by Cos. The color is fantastic and the ruching around the waist is super flattering. Throw a blazer or boyfriend jacket on top. This dress shows how the one- shoulder look can be done right.
