Get dressed

Right now, more than ever, we're trying to live in the present moment. Who knows what the future will bring? What we do know, is what we want to wear right now, in this moment, in this time: cozy, practical pieces with a hint of flair, starting with a coat from Topshop.

If you're not familiar, Topshop is a UK-based brand known for its affordable takes on current trends. Jen has found it a particularly good resource for jackets and coats for her clients. Topshop often goes the extra mile in this category as in the three coats above. At top, the black and white piece is cool and reversible. It's great to have a piece that's really two in one.

In the middle, the pink piece is just fun and cute. The color is even better in real life. It has grey undertones so it's weirdly versatile. You can use it as a neutral. At bottom, the bottle green coat is a chic take on the Max Mara teddy coat (a celebrity favorite, it retails for more than $3500 and is actually gorgeous in real life, especially in this navy color) at a much more affordable $150. The green color is SO good - another tone that you can use as a neutral. Imagine wearing this around the fire pit. The epitome of coziness.

We just had to share with you these Cos cashmere pieces before all the good colors are gone. The cashmere is a beautiful quality and the price is right. Black is an easy choice but it comes in a lovely dark grey or navy as well. We all need a strong accessory game this season given all the time we're spending outdoors. Scarf here. Hat here. Whole set available for $145.

We just love this Nili Lotan sweater. It's the ultimate dress up/dress down piece. Wear it with jeans and a boot for a casual look or put it on with an elegant wool pant and get a whole different vibe. It's the type of elevated basic with special details like the neck tie and puffed sleeve at the wrist that goes the extra mile.

Another stepped up basic, this Theory cashmere sweater is terrific in real life. It's somewhat narrower at the waist than it looks - not cinched, but shaped. We love the little collar detail and this grey color is the ultimate in versatility. Wear it with jeans and boots.

Here's a great layering piece from Theory. It's like the Goop sweater we profiled last week but less expensive (and 30% off right now). Layering will continue to be super relevant this year and this piece is particularly cute under a cardigan or jacket. The sleeve length is ideal in spring/fall.

An elbow length silhouette is flattering on all body types and works well in this casual Vince dress. It's hard to find a good winter dress and this one is particularly good. Wear it with a boot, thick tights and the pink Topshop jacket on top.

The great thing about a patterned pant is that it goes with all of your neutral basic tops. This one from Theory is a good pattern and shape. It's a perfect work pant that easily goes out to dinner or to a holiday meal with family. Hem these to the ankle so you can wear them with all different types of shoes.

These cotton trouser pants by Nili Lotan are a must purchase. They have a comfortable and chic wide leg and simple cut and you can wear them year round. Keep in mind that they are one hundred percent cotton (no stretch), so if you're in between sizes, go up.

Another example of excellent tailoring by Nili Lotan, these jeans offer a modern take on the boot cut. The silhouette is slimmer through the thigh without being super tight. The higher waist is more flattering than the low-rise boot cuts we all wore a decade ago. The mild distressing is just the right amount.

We really like this easy flat by Mansur Gavriel. As we continue to lean away from the ballet flat and toward the loafer, this is exactly what we're looking for. These would be very cute with the plaid pant above.

Sometimes it's nice to have a boot that stands out a little like these white beauties. They're like the winter version of the white Birkenstocks we were wearing all summer. This pair is by Grenson, a UK-based brand that's been around for more than 100 years. Their quality is top-notch and they offer many vegan options.
