Jen's picks

Today's post is a round up of pieces Jen loves. They're all pieces you won't regret adding to your closet, regardless of the season. Let us know what you think in the comments!

In case you missed it, we profiled this jumpsuit by female-owned brand, Rivet Utility, on Instagram last week. It's SO good, it's worth repeating. Jen styled it on herself above with a popped collar, rolled sleeve, simple pendant necklace and a great shoe boot from Frye (see below for more detail on the boot). What you won't believe about the jumpsuit is how comfortable it is. The fabric is stretchy and fabulous and the fit is terrific. We love the Bigwig and, as of this week, it comes in corduroy (middle photo above) as well as the original cotton (on Jen and in photo at right).

The Frye boots Jen is wearing with the Rivet Utility jumpsuit are a great addition to any closet. Isabel Marant kicked off a key trend several years ago - the low-heeled shoe boot with a dip in the front and side zip - with her Dicker boot and they have become a fashion cult favorite for a reason. The dip in the front makes for a flattering leg line. And they are amazingly comfortable - you can walk the city streets for miles and feel no pain. Frye's version is just as good - and for half the price. It has a little bit of a higher heel, but is still comfortable. Sometimes in life the knock off is just as good as the real thing,

Rag & Bone put out a great knit collection this year and these are Jen's two favorite pieces. The white alpaca leans in the direction of an open weave, so it wouldn't hurt to put a little white tank underneath. It's a true white, which is more flattering on most people than cream. The wide sleeve and soft texture is awesome for winter.

The pink knit is part of Rag & Bone's Pierce cashmere line. It has a cute split at the cuff and it looks very adorable half-tucked into a black pant or jean. The color is beautiful in real life.

This metallic jean by Mother is fantastic. The important thing is NOT to treat this as a fancy pant. It's much more chic to wear this super casually with a denim shirt or a black sweater and a shoe boot. It's a fun and different piece that not everyone else will be wearing, kind of in the same vein as a leather pant. It bears repeating that Mother jeans have the perfect stretch and this one is no different. It's a slam dunk.

You know how Jen loves designer Dries van Noten. If you want to splurge for the holidays on a coat that will be cool for the next 15 years, look no further. It's meant to be worn a little oversized with a few layers underneath. Super, super chic.

Joseph makes this awesome boot. As you know, Jen has been putting all of her clients into lug soled boots this season. This happens to be a great version of the trend in burgundy. Wear it with monochromatic outfits as a little pop of color. Also, note that Joseph is having a huge sale. We profiled many of their most excellent pieces this season; check out our past posts, here, here and here to view our picks, most of which are now on sale.

The love affair with Mother denim continues. This is a great black jean with their signature stretch and a perfectly cut wide leg that's flattering on almost every body type. Their denim is always comfortable and soft. Wear it with the Rag & Bone sweaters above or the J. Crew shirts below.

Jen is obsessed with this piece by Dries van Noten. It's like a flannel shirt and a winter dress had a baby. It's a splurge, as you would expect, but it's gorgeous. Wear it with a chunky black boot and automatically win the best dressed prize.

It's hard to find a shirt to layer under sweaters that doesn't add too much bulk. This shirt from J. Crew does the job perfectly and at a great price (made even better now with 20% off using code FESTIVE). The shirt comes in black and white and is slim and stretchy. It looks good on its own, but it's true purpose in life is as a layer.

We profiled a great black and white houndstooth wrap by Rag & Bone a few weeks ago and it sold out almost immediately. We heard many of you were disappointed, so here's a similar look, also from Rag & Bone. Wear this over your coat sitting by the fire. The blue color is our favorite, but it comes in camel and olive as well.

We love a good Birkenstock for running around. This is the one you wear now. It's like an outdoor slipper and the ultimate in cool-weather comfort.

Here's a little something by Lelet NY to brighten up your holiday look, whether on Zoom or in real life. Jen owns this headband called the "half-olive" and she loves it. It's comfortable because the band is fabric, not metal, and it's thin so it blends into your hair. The crystal embellishment is that little bit of bling that you need to feel festive. It's reminiscent of past-season looks by Prada at a tiny fraction of the price.

Let's just take a minute to enjoy the fantasy that one day we will again travel....and when we do, we will need a good beach cover-up. If you've ever been on the search for one, you know they are hard to find in a sea of cheesy options. Well, it turns out that Natalie Martin makes one that is just about perfect. It's a great cut and material, so good in fact that you can wear it over jeans as a tunic. Stock up now and your future self will thank you.
