Not your average Joe

Joseph is a UK-based brand that for years has been well-loved by fashion insiders. It has been a go-to for Jen across her career as a stylist and it's the number one place she recommends for the highest quality, basic pants. Anyone who owns a pair knows what we're talking about. They're known for their fabulous fit and stretchy, thick fabric that smooths out all that wants smoothing. Across time, Joseph has evolved to be a little more avant-garde but still maintains a moderate price range for designer fashion. And here's the big news, people: Joseph is having a huge sale and many sizes are still available. This does not happen often, if ever, so plan ahead and make a few key investments. Your future self will thank you when she is (finally) leaving the house again in style.

This billowy dress, called the Dalamo comes in two colors, straw and white (straw is better on someone with darker or olive skin tones). Once you wrap your mind around wearing volume, you'll love the cool comfort of this dress and appreciate how the V-neck creates a chic body line. We like it with a bunch of long necklaces, a cool leather sandal or Birkenstock and a cross-body bag to taper the volume. It runs big, so size down if you're in between sizes. Now on sale for $447 down from $895.

If you've ever wondered what to wear to a dressy evening event, look no further than these two black pieces. The long-sleeved Ray dress on the left would be gorgeous for a black-tie event or fancy cocktail party. It's the definition of elegant. Wear it with a beautiful necklace around the neckline or a really long pretty earring. It's $450 on sale (down from $1125).

On the right, the sleeveless Carrol dress would be gorgeous at a wedding or any glamorous cocktail event. Wear it with a simple black heel. The detail, the construction and the silk satin fabric are all chic and timeless. A perfect black dress that's anything but basic. This is on sale for $358 (down from $895).

Jen's favorite of our picks is this Checker Silk Habotai dress. The dusty rose color in real life is very, very pretty. It's a great look in summer with a wedge or sandal. In the fall, put a jean jacket or tux jacket or floral jacket over it and go. Jen recently posted on Instagram a photo of her client wearing it with a gorgeous Dries van Noten jacket. So chic! And now only $447 down from $895.

We like this Romy dress in its gorgeous red color with a few buttons undone. It's an amazing stepped-up basic in a thick crepe fabric with a waist tie that creates a nice definition. Wear it with a wedge or black or brown sandal. You won't see many pieces of this quality for $238 at Joseph (or anywhere) (it retailed for $595 pre-sale).

The Darline dress is a total dream. It's a cotton blend, lightly sheer and easy in the summer heat with a flat sandal or a wedge and a bunch of long necklaces. We love that the sleeve is a bit flared. You can live in this dress this summer for $217 (down from $435).

We love the color of this Janna Chintz Jacket. It's a little oversized without being baggy. The open-cuff sleeves have a nice length and you can roll them up to make the look more relaxed. This would be a great look with jeans and a black tank. Or, try wearing it as a shirt. Jen loves to wear a blazer by itself. Because it's a longer style, if you're shorter, wear a heel and a slim pant to balance out the proportions. Now on sale for $270 down from $675.

And now for the amazing Joseph pants. On the left, the gabardine stretch legging is a season-less and standard part of Joseph's collection. They come in black (always) and an array of other colors that change each season like this pretty blue. You have to try on the stretch gabardine fabric to see how brilliant it is at smoothing out any little bumps. It gives you structure and holds everything in place. And they are great to wear with a boot over top. The leggings run a little narrow so consider sizing up if you're in-between. On sale for $147 (down from $295).

On the right, the Elliston is a more of a classic, fitted trouser, also in the same amazing gabardine fabric. Jen insists that you hem them right at the dead center of your ankle. Then wear them with a trouser sock and man shoe or a little bootie. They come long, so most everyone needs to hem them anyway. This is a classic style and they last forever. On sale for $157 from $315.

We love the Nancy silk top in this pretty quartz color that has a pearled quality to it. It just looks gorgeous on so many skin tones and goes with every color pant (try it with charcoal). The elegant draped tie feature is elongating. Don't be afraid to tuck the whole thing in with the tie especially with a high-waisted pant. It's now $285 down from $475.

Joseph also designs beautiful accessories. The Westbourne leather tote on the left is a great oversized modern bag.We love the multiple colors it comes in (black, tan, chocolate). It's an easy everyday bag that fits a laptop and all the rest of your essentials. At $432, you get a lot of leather for the price and you'll have it forever (black is not on sale). It's an instant look elevator.

We also love this little Westbourne clutch which you could throw right into the tote. It's an easy piece for organizing your small items. For $158, look no further for a fall clutch (black is not on sale).

To round it out, check out these Bakhta loafers. They would be super cute with the Elliston trouser or jeans. There are lots of sizes left and they're only $275 (reduced from $550). It's a fun loafer at a great price.
