Looking ahead to the summer months when we can, with any luck, get out and about, we've curated a selection of sandals to take you everywhere you're dreaming of going. With the lines very blurred in terms of evening and day shoes these days, you can get away with a lot. A cool flat can be dressed up and a sky high wedge can be worn with shorts. These shoes make us excited for the coming season. Also, most retailers are running sales right now, so there are deals to be had.
For a bit of height
Starting clockwise from top left, these grey Pedro Garcia wedges are terrific. Grey is a fresh modern color that we love as an everyday neutral. It looks amazing with white dresses. This particular pair have a shorter heel and are super easy to wear.
If you can handle a heel, the black Pedro Garcias are really amazing. They are high, but so comfortable and as flattering as it gets. They somehow last forever. We've had pairs for 8-10 years and counting. Neiman Marcus has a sale right now (code "UPLIFT") so it's a great time to treat yourself.
Stella McCartney makes these cool platform sandals with no leather and a comfortable rubber sole. They'll makes any outfit pop all summer long. They'd look particularly great with monochromatic outfits in black, white or denim.
This black block-heel by Stuart Weitzman is a little dressier summer option that goes easily to a cocktail party or the office. It's very similar to one made by Prada but at a much better price.
Andre Assous makes these slip-on wedges. They're nice and low and easy to wear and under $150. The transparent straps and woven heel are interesting details and more modern than a lot of alternatives at this price.
These platform espadrilles are by Castaner and have a very cool all-over woven look that is perfect for summer. We like them with white dresses or all black on top. They'd also be fun with denim.
A few great flats
First up is this great black sandal by Rag & Bone. The silver piece and embossed leather are interesting details and they're substantial enough to hold your foot in place even without a back strap. They're on massive sale right now.
We love this Tabitha Simmons sandal in mustard yellow with its oversized buckle. It's the perfect pop of color with navy, white, black or denim on top.
Miu Miu makes these funky, chunky white sandals. They're designer and high-end but very cool. Wear them with black pants as a contrast.
And last, this black flat by Cos. This is a super easy, cute, comfortable shoe made of very soft leather and at a great price. Wear them with pants instead of dresses.
K. Jacques is a great French sandal maker that has been around forever. Their shoes tend to be super flat and so much more chic than the standard rubber flip-flop. They wear beautifully, almost getting better across time. Wear them poolside or casually around town. Black and blue here; nubuck khaki here; camel leather here.
Birkenstocks have had a serious comeback across the last couple of year. Now you see them worn with dresses on the runway, as well as with shorts at the farmer's market. They work in every environment and give us another great alternative to a rubber flip-flop. Birkenstocks are as comfortable as they say (practically like wearing a running shoe) and inexpensive to boot. We like the leather ones in black, white or silver.
