Wear it well

Today, we're continuing the theme of what we want to wear right now. We're not looking too far into the future. Instead, our eyes are trained on comfortable, wearable pieces with a cozy at-home vibe. These late-fall pieces will see us through the holidays with chic comfort and a hint of luxury.

The brilliance of this Isabel Marant Etoile jacket is the rose gold metallic detail around the top. It happens to be super flattering around the face and even better in real life than in the photo. This everyday casual jacket is totally different than what everyone else will be wearing (we're looking at you black, puffy Canada Goose jacket!) in a great way.

Yes, this Rag & Bone jacket is short-sleeved. It's all about the layering. Wear a thick cashmere sweater or even a slim down jacket underneath. This is another good choice that won't be on every other woman in America. Wear it with a skinny jean or pant and a chunky boot.

This hooded poncho wrap by Rag & Bone is such an easy and versatile piece. It has buttons you can use to keep it in place after you wrap it around your layers. It would even be good belted. And this burgundy color is beautiful and very wearable. Wear it cozied up to an outdoor fireplace. Or a patio lamp!

Joseph makes this amazing chunky knit sweater. You can wear it with its matching skirt. Or put it over black skinny pants/jeans or leather leggings (which happen to be a nice warm choice for winter - see below).

This Joseph sweater just might be the perfect piece for this year's low-key holiday season. It incorporates a little festive sparkle without overdoing it. You can pair it with black pants if you're hanging out with your family at home. Or even if you're just on Zoom. And because it's not too much, you don't need to save it only for special occasions. Wear it with jeans and a little boot on an everyday basis when you're feeling just a little extra.

We love this Nili Lotan boyfriend sweater. It's a great example of the stepped up basic -- high quality, you can wear it multiple ways and it will go the extra mile. It's a beautiful layering piece as shown and works well half tucked or out.

This sweater by Joseph is another great basic and also a terrific bottom layer. It's a pretty, soft (merino) wool and in navy or black, you can't go wrong. It's fine enough to layer under a blazer and the sleeves are long enough to peek out. It's also a really nice choice paired with a silk skirt - a chic combo that Jen loves.

A good leather legging costs a pretty penny and this one by Joseph is no exception. However, if there is an empty spot in your closet waiting for a pair, this one is a great choice and you will have it for a decade. A key detail: there is an elasticized waist but only in the back, so the front waistband sits flat. We love these with an oversized silk shirt or the long Joseph sweater above. Pair them with any boot on the blog.

Tips for buying leather leggings: 1) never, never buy a side-zip leather pant - they are very unforgiving; 2) only buy leather pants that pull on; 3) buy the tightest pant you can because they stretch naturally and you do not need a saggy leather legging.

These jeans by Frame are a great find. They are slightly cropped so they show off a cute shoe or boot (hem them to your ankle if need be and keep the cuff detail). This is the rare year-round jean with a shape that's flattering on just about every body type.

You might not be able to tell at first glance, but these Vince pants are made of a soft knit. With a little pleat for structure, you can pass them off as a trouser pant even though they are much more cozy. Half tuck one of the sweaters above and go. Key detail: there is an elasticized waist in the back for added comfort.

New brand alert: Rivet Utility. This woman-owned brand based in LA is focused exclusively (for now) on making the perfect jumpsuit and have they ever succeeded. Jen has one and is obsessed. It fits just right and has exactly the right amount of stretch in the fabric. We consider it a huge win to have a one-piece outfit that goes from day to night with a change of accessories. Pop the collar and roll the sleeve, put on a cute boot and go. So easy and modern.

Clergerie makes these gorgeous boots of a lifetime. This type of casual sock-boot is not easy to find and they are SO good. They are particularly nice with a wider leg pant but they would be equally amazing with the leather leggings above. We love the solid wedge/platform sole since it perfectly solves the height + comfort equation. These are going quickly, so if you're tempted, best to act fast.

For a low-heeled boot, we are loving these by Rag & Bone. They have the on-trend lug sole and the zipper detail is a nice addition. We love a sturdy, chic boot for travel or walking around town. These could be Chloe or Balenciaga but they are half the price.
